1929 Packard Carburetor

I seem to recall seeing an article on adjustment of the two springs in the air valve of the Packard carburetor. Doe anyone recall where I might find how to do the adjustment? This is the carburetor made by Detroit Lubricator, but badged Packard on the float chamber cover.

Thanks,

Which model Packard are you looking for the ring & pinion for? I have a very nice R & P for a 626/633 model. It is a 12/61 tooth, 5.08 ratio.

When I restored my 640 Phaeton, I made up some side curtain escutcheons and have some left over. They are $55 for a pair or $100 for 4 shipped in the US. Might also work for other open car series. Holes have not been cut so you can make sure they are in the right place for your application.

In restoring my 640 Phaeton,I made up some side curtain escutcheons and have extras. I will sell them for $55 for a pair or $100 for 4. The holes for the side curtain rods have not been made so you can make sure they are in the correct position for your car. These will probably work for other series cars.

I have a 1929 small 8 differential carrier assembly available if anyone needs one. It is the 5.08 ratio 12/61 teeth set. There were three ratios offered for the small 8: 4.38, 4.69 and 5.08. The ring and pinion appear to be in very good condition with no galling or pitting. Available with or without the carrier, which is quite heavy, but is matched to the ring and pinion.

Thanks for the reply. I made a mistake. It is a 12/61 and has a number stamped on the ring gear 140436. If that is a part number, it is earlier than my parts book covers.

Does anyone know what a 61/13 ring and pinion set would go to? I have the whole setup and would like to identify it.
