Re: 41 Front End Suspension

OK... So if I check the tire specs and compare it to the original bias ply, I should have about 3/4" gap between my tie rod and the side wall. My current tire is a 235/75r15.

Per DB and Coker, if I replace it with a 820r15 that will give me the gap that I need.

Front tires are 15 years old, so I need to replace these tires as I will drive this car on tours. (Cheap insurance)

My concern is if I hit a large pothole the tire may flex and the rod can gouge out the sidewall of the tire. (obviously not good) If I had an inch gap I would not be concerned, but since I am about 3/8" from the sidewall that worries me.
What would happen if I buy a short tie rod?

Thanks

It appears to me that my suspension (tie rod?) knuckles are too close to my front tires. There is less than a 1/2" gap between the inside of the tire wall and the knuckle. Is there an adjustment that I should make or did the prior owner install something backwards?

Thanks for your comments!

Ok. I am slightly confused I see a Dupont color chart on the packardclub sitehttps://www.packardclub.org/html/1941paint.htm

and acme paint on this sitehttps://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/archive/content.php?op=&catID=16&ContentID=228

so, did they have two different color charts to go off of?

OK. So if I go down the two tone paint solution and match the leather interior to the correct paint combo, I should be good and not create a Frankenstein?

Is the dash the lighter or darker paint?

thank you!

Thanks for the tip. I did look earlier at the paint charts but did not find the paint/interior color for this particular model. I did however, find another forum that discussed the interior of the car and the correct leather color options for my paint.

It looks like the original paint color might have been a two tone moth gray/ blue gray. I found a small gouge/chip in the steering wheel. That surprises me as I did not think there were any two tone 41 convertibles...

I am trying to determine the color paint /interior color scheme for my 1941.

The original interior was a red leather and the rims are also red. I have no idea on the roof canvas.

gag..current color is a sandy beige with fake brown leather trim...

Are there specific color schemes that were used for 120 Convertibles?

Thank you for your insight.

Thanks, I will reach out and see if they can remake mine for a reasonable fee. If not, it looks like I may buy some wood and make my own...

1941 Trunk Floor Board(pan)

Gar
I have two ends of my trunk floor board that is completely rusted through. Each spot is located at the very end of the trunk floor board (8"x8") by the corner of the stop light and qtr panel.

How to I bend the new sheet metal for the trunk floor board to match the bend of the existing floor board? Should the add-on metal piece be butt welded?

Thanks for the help.

How did you repair the wooden header? What did you use?

Thanks
