Does anyone know what the measurement is for the bolt holes of the manifold where the riser connects?
I found a spacer on eBay for a Ford 352. They call this a "Heat Riser Valve Eliminator Spacer". My manifolds are already bolted on so I can't measure it without removing it from the engine. This one is showing the holes either 3" or 3 and 1/16 on centers. Attach file: (14.95 KB)

I have crossed referenced common items like filters, spark plugs, fuel pumps, electrical and of course bearings.
I can't see my local NAPA being able to find a matching Heat Riser. Back during the summer I was looking for a thermostat flange and they were no help. I did eventually find one for a dodge truck but I got that tip from someone here.

I've seen that riser on eBay. Just waiting to see if I actually need one or not. Max's has them for $125 no idea on shipping.
I would not mind having a non-functioning valve. I just fixed the pin because I could. I'm in Ky and no plans to drive in cold weather. (Just hopping to drive it someday) However, I do not want leave the part off the car. Without it the pipe would be closer to the steering cylinder and hoses. My concern now is with that lip on the upper side of the riser. There is little left of mine. When I google "exhaust manifold spacer" I find there are several muscle cars that used plane spacer. One for a 69-70 Mustang is below. I cannot find a measurement and there is no lip on it. I wonder, since the riser does not have any true bolt holes, if the lip and flange are needed on a spacer like below?

I believe this is the 2 bolt riser on Summit below.
Looking at it I think that the orientation of the spring & weight is different then the original riser. The whole assembly, when bolted in, is really close to the frame on that side so it may not bolt in. I think the spring needs to be closer toward the front of the engine not the rear as this one is. I will take a closer look at it tomorrow morning. Attach file: (8.21 KB)

I saw that post last week but, no, I can't. I don't own a metal lathe and I've not touched one in 25 years.

Also, I am still working on that heat riser for the exhaust. Several things going on with it.
1. I removed the old pin and drilled for new one. I found a replacement in an unused concrete anchor I had laying around. Just removed the nail from the anchor and shortened it. I tacked a small weld on it hold it in place. 2. The lip on top of the riser that extends into the manifold is nearly gone. I didn't know just how far gone until 56executive posted his images back in post #496. 3. About that flange. Also in post #496 you can see the original metal flange. Then in post #497 I asked you guys about those thicker gaskets I found in my gasket kit. I wondered if those were meant to be a modern replacements for the metal flange. No one answered my question so, I went ahead and ordered the $20 replace from Max's. They had a picture of the metal one on their web site but guess what they sent me. That's right...what I had in my gasket kit was a modern replacement for the heat riser. Now I have 3 of them. 4. That flange and my lip less heat riser are not going to work together since that lip helps hold it in place. I guess I can return that flange to Max for credit toward another riser.

On Christmas day I won an eBay auction for a chrome trunk handle, center medallion and lock & key. There were a couple bids already but the auction was set to close on Christmas day so I figured few people would be watching it. I won the items below for $255. I figure it would have cost me a lot more then that to have mine re-chromed.
The chrome has a couple little dimples in it but its much better then the one I already have. The center medallion looks really nearly new and the lock and key match each other. I bought a another center medallion last winter but its not in as good a shape as this new one. I got great deal on that one also, I have no idea what they are worth. Packard Southwest recently posted a pair of them on their Facebook page but they refused to sale them. I have seen very few in good shape for sale anywhere.

I am going to try what Fred suggested on the riser. Grind off the pin and drill for a new one. I have nothing to lose with this part.
Went through the gasket set this weekend. I think I found the gaskets for the exhaust (Image 1 & 2). I found 3 identical gaskets that are a perfect fit as seen below although the "Parts and Accessories" book says there is only 1 on the vehicle. I would have thought there would be 3 (1 on the right and 2 on the left). Also found 2 thicker gaskets (image 3) with the same inside diameter as the above. Could those be a version of the flange we were discussing before or are they for something entirely different? The book shows 2 are needed. The image that 56executive posted in #496 shows a metal flange. Attach file: (11.67 KB) (12.39 KB) (12.04 KB)

Why don't I ever think to look for a modern replacement.
Thank you Howard. The riser goes on the drivers side. It between the manifold and the first pipe. I will need to double check the size of the pipe this weekend before I try it though.
