Hi; i have rebuilt the vacuum cylinders on my 42. Not that hard to do, I am sure the shafts have some rust and if they do you will have to have new ones machined. the seals can be replaced. The pistons on mine only needed to be cleaned and lubed with nets-foot oil. I can take some photos for you, but don't want to take out the interior. I would guess the the springs will have to be made if you can't find a set. The fellow who is remaking the bottom of a 120 (see posts)should have a photo of the retainer for the bottom of the spring. i am getting my 42 ready for a show and will take some photos. Dell

Mal; I think it would be a very good idea to remove the oil pan and clean it and the the oil pickup, You should be able to remove the cover and clean the screen. If any of the metal from the first cover or the replacement cover get to the crank you will have major problems. If you think the engine is hard to turn over-take it apart as it is to late. I don't want to predict doom but metal shavings and bearing don't mix. Sorry to see your problems Dell

looks like I will need to do more then touch up the paint on my 33 super eight. The car now has a fine metallic in the paint, as I don't know when Packard started to use metallic and don't want to make the same mistake the previous owner had done, if metallic is not correct for the time period. I drill teeth for a living, if your Dentist is also your friend He can grind the bumps off in short order with a high speed diamond. He has all the tools to do a great job.

In the past I have bought 6006 bulbs from Bob Drake Ford with out the three bumps, don't know if he still sells them

Bill; On both my 48's I have bored out the pedals and pressed in bushings, I believe used plymouth wrist pin bushings. and had new shafts machined. It is a big job, but sure works like new. Dell

If you use the Teflon tape make sure to get the one rated for gas, yellow I believe.
