Oil for rear and overdrive
#63

Home away from home

Hi
I got a 36 120 with an R11 overdrive and I was having a debate about what oil I should use for the rear and overdrive. It seem that the debate was about bright metal (bronze, brass) and the ability of today oil to damage these parts
Any thoughts?
Thanks
W

Sorry I might be doing this wrong, but I stick index finger in between the first and second knuckle when it is cold, if its wet I can go for a decent ride without worrying
I keep a gal of premix in the trunk

Question
I have purchased a publication "The Production Packard" by Dar Kuehl, and I am getting a lot of good information from it
In the text it references a "see Source List" for parts.
Where can I get a hold of this "Source List"?
Thanks for your attention
Will

Thanks, that great and I got an answer to all my question but one.
Does anybody know what the original color of "Old Number One" at Leigh University was?

Hope you can help
We are having a debate about what color the early Packard's were.
I am going with black, but someone in my office produced a hemming article that stated the old number one was maroon and that was typical for cars of that period
Pre 1905 were the cars a lot of different colors?
Did the black color come to pass with the Model T?
Thanks
W James

I have a friend I share a shop with that pulled the dist out and set it up on a dist machine. Thought it would detect a bad condenser, but I could be wrong
Thanks again, I will give the condenser a try
