I love this one, 56 Exec needs everything but it's a rare bird.
He'd likely take less, somebody GRAB this one.

Is this a 374?

Date code is 6-11-56? Last digit is tough, think it's a 6 but could be a 5.
Casting # is 440275 A
Oil filler pad says 534 (this number does not appear in the paper work)

Valve covers are plain & it has the round air cleaner with the round hole facing forward.

If I have the time, I may pull a head & look around, perhaps I can free up some rings & get her running?

A Dana 53 is new to me, that means the axle is rated for 5300 lbs. Does that share guts with a 8.5" Dana 44 or is related to the Dana 60?

Thought I would tag onto an old post with a couple of relevant questions.
Did the '56 Clipper use a Dana 44 while the senior car got something else? Was it a Dana as well or something else.
Can a '56 assembly be swapped into a '55 without much "taffy pulling"?
The easiest way to tell a Power Loc (or TT)is to poke your index finger in the fill hole. If it only goes to the first knuckle, it's a Power Loc. Most people figure things out while accelerating around a corner in the rain, it's pretty easy to tell if you have a mono drive (peg leg,one wheel wonder)

Door Glass, what's the deal?

I have seen countless cars (HT or 400s) with broken door windows. Must have some stressing of the body? Many of these are very solid cars with no body mount issues.
Any theories?

Been watching this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Packard-Four-Hundred-2-Door-Hardtop-Hardtop-1955-packard-four-hundred-400-2-doors-hard-top-original-/131024072196

I suspect the bidding is topping out. Would need belts, hoses, lines, brake work, maybe tires to be road worthy.
Near term would need oil pump upgrade, valve seats & crank seals to be dependable-if the tranny holds up.
Any guess what the reserve is?

10/27
Reserve was 10K & I'm the high bidder.
Do I go for it???

How many 2 doors?

The '46-'50 body style, I never see any 2 doors.
Were they not popular or did people figure more doors were better?
They look pretty sweet as a coupe, what's the deal?
