West,
I don't know if it's the original tag. It was given to give as the original.

I really have a decision to make now..............
I really love the car and was at a crossroads as to whether just to drive the car "as is"....maybe a paint job" or a full frame off restoration.

Being this is indeed a 120, that may have made the decision a lot easier.

I checked the grill louvers and they are movable. I also have what I believe is the original ID tag. Other than the window cranks, are there any other dead giveaways?

The car was in Texas until a few years ago. I spoke with the owner who bought the car in 1982.
And yes, the interior has been redone in a vinyl many years ago.

Thank you Roger,
Based on what I'm reading here, the attached car being sold as a "160" is really a "120".

Thanks,
Steve P

This post has peaked my interest. If the car is not a 160, then what was the original car?

Other than the vent windows, what are the other giveaways?

Regards,
Steve P

From what I can determine, there was a limited amount of model 1377, 1940 Super 8, 160 Conv. Sedans produced.
Is there an opinion of how many have survived?
Thanks,
Steve P

Thanks for the input............... So the rubber missing inside the dampener will not be an issue?

My question involves the front oil seal..... Is the rubber and friction material in the vibration dampener acting as the oil seal. The rubber on mine is completely gone..........
Thanks,
Steve P

Thanks for the input..........Today I met with the owner of a local machine shop who builds race motors and has the latest technology in machining. I'm finding out that there are very few shops that still grind cranks He will be grinding the crank and has the ability to measure the cam.

I'm starting to feel better about the project. All I have to tackle is the front harmonic balancer and front seal.
Thanks,
Steve P
