You know I just remembered passing by what looked to be an auto salvage yard in Lancaster county.I believe it was near East Earl Pa. All the cars there were old 40s,50s,60,.the yard was on a winding 2 lane road in a heavily wooded area I also remember seeing a 53 Packard executive sedan and an old Chrysler imperial. Since at the time I was actually lost I cannot remember exactly where it was located.

I was just wondering if any of you guys out there knew of any salvage yards in Southeastern Pa (or South Jersey for that matter) with 1955-56 Packards.

Well hopefully on Monday which is supposed to be dry (it has been very wet here as of Late) I will pull the car out of the garage and remove the plenum from the car and open it up from the back to see whats going on inside. I think the flapper is damaged or missing since when i pull the control from defrost to heater there is almost no tension at all to it. That being the case i will fabricate a new flapper out of plastic or cardboard or plastic and plywood.

1955 defroster not working.

I was driving my car the other day at night and the windshield started to fog up. I selected the controls on the dashboard for defroster but nothing happened. Luckily i had a big roll of paper towels which I was able to reach and wipe the windshield off. I obviously cant live with that situation forever. I recently had the car serviced at Ross Miller's garage and he said (after putting the car back together) that the heater was working which it was. I am wondering if I should replace the whole heater box under the dashboard to fix this problem. If so does anyone have one in good shape?I believe the proper name for this unit is the plenum chamber.

I was told that there is a person who makes trunk lining kits for the 1955 & 1956 Packard. I was told this persons email was packards1@AOL.com. I sent a email a few days ago but haven't received a response. I was wondering if the person is still doing these items. Since my union and management where i work are giving us a new contract involving backpay (HURAAH!!) I want to finish up my car this year.
