Wow, totally missed that entire section of the manual! I was flipping through Group 31, got to "Quarter Window" and erroneously assumed I wouldn't find my mat any further back. Thanks.

I understand 312376 is only for '37 juniors. My question, for those with experience with other juniors, is if the trunk shelves are similar enough, from say '35 to '39, that the mats could fit multiple applications? I.e. perhaps one touring body style trunk mat could cover multiple years?

JWL, that's a good point about getting a basic mat cut. In this case, the mat is pebbled except for a smooth band around the edges, so I think it would need to be custom made.

Thanks for the input guys.

Trunk rubber mat

The trunk in my 1937 Packard 120 touring sedan has a rubber mat on top of the plywood shelf over the spare tire.

The parts manual has no mention specifically of the rubber mat that I can find, but does list a "FLOOR BOARD ASSEMBLY, Trunk" in group 31 of the consolidated parts manual.

I am working with Don Lampen to get this trunk mat reproduced. Is anyone else interested, and does anyone know if this will fit junior Packard touring models of any other years?

Similar to Dave, but for different reasons. Loved the 26 Pierce, 31/32 Pierce, and a few of the 120s. But, time and circumstances don't permit me bidding.

Best of luck with the auction.

If it’s a 115, or 120, Don Lampen makes them.

I have one and am very satisfied.

Hey Hank - I tried that before I dove into the radiator issue! Verified per book, then set per ear, then adjusted a few degrees advanced and retarded. It just ran worse, no change in heating.

After all that was when I started down the flushing/cooling/radiator path.

It's also running well - pulls hard, starts quickly, etc - just too hot - so I think the timing is where it needs to be.

Thanks guys! (and sorry for indulging in a bit of whining)

Don, water distribution tube is installed, and verified clean. I've also flushed the block a whole lot and inspected it with a borescope camera - I believe it to be clean.

I've been thinking it over some more - my plugs are chocolate brown, and the carb has the right jets. I'm leaning more towards radiator.

When I get back home in a few weeks, I'll get the original radiator re-cored with an OEM style core, and try again. If it still runs hot, I'll at least know that the cooling system is 100%. Will report back once I know more.

If anyone is following along, one additional point: the recently installed radiator did seem to improve the cooling situation, but it still gets too hot under sustained load.

I did not get the new (to me) radiator flow tested prior to installation due to constraints (out of town for several months for work and getting ready for an interstate move in the next few months!)

Kevin - on the pump, do you have the vacuum side hooked up? Mine was very loud when I installed the fuel pump because I don't have any of the vacuum lines hooked up yet. (Wipers are the least of my concern right now, especially since the roof insert isn't water tight after 85 years!). I plugged both sides, and voila - noise was gone.

Car looks great, and congrats on the new shop too!
