Thank you for posting this, Roger!

I was curious re times because I have to work during the week.

Judging by the schedule, I should plan a vacation day for Thursday the 27th to see/photograph Packards (and hopefully meet fellow PackardInfo-ers!).

Am I missing something? I've found the flyer for the meet, and an agenda for the meet, but no start/finish times for any events.

OK, Ross, that does it! I have no excuse to miss the Packard meet anyway, since it's almost in my neighborhood. But the chance to see/hear this car has clinched it!

I know what it's like to look at a huge project like this and be overwhelmed. I have to agree with those who advise you to start small and tackle one area at a time.

From what I've read in your posts (and seen in pictures), I think the previous owner keeping the car stored indoors all this time works in your favor. I saw NO rust to speak of!

My dad's '47 Clipper sat outside for 14 years after he traded it to a local car dealer, and that ruined it.

I have to think that sitting inside will be helpful in getting the car to run again. There's something to be said for protection from the elements!

I'm looking forward to reading about the engine turning over after it soaks for awhile....

I think one of the major blows was the loss of defense money. After the large expenditure to build a plant for the jet engines and then thinking they had a reliable source of income to tide them over while they did the other things must have hurt as much as Studebaker.

Had that defense money been available, do you think they might have been able to keep up car production?

What SINGLE factor MOST contributed to the demise of Packard?

Yes, I know many factors contributed to Packard's demise.

And I'm not starting this topic to initiate any sort of fire fight (spirited discussion IS encouraged, however!).

I'm curious as to what ONE factor (in YOUR humble opinion) was the main reason for Packard going out of the automobile business.

I'll start!

NOT having an outside accounting/auditing firm thoroughly examine Studebaker's books.

Interesting! One could revitalize this one in its present form or perhaps drop the body onto 1936 V-12 running gear?

I LIVE near Pontiac, MI, so I have no excuse NOT to go...

But I have questions. I'm not a member of PAC. I don't presently own a Packard (though obviously, I'm an enthusiast).

I looked at another thread about the meet, hoping to find info on where Packards/owners might be gathered to be admired/photographed (the cars more than the owners.... )..

Am I correct that the only place to really do that is the Marriott in Pontiac? Or perhaps the gathering at the proving grounds?
