I would assume the '42 would have a 356 straight 8 in it?? Or was AC available in cars with the 282 or 245?

As far as I've seen they never made a 288 with a 4 barrel carb. Must be a 327 from a 1953 or 54 car.

One advantage to the oily film under the car is it helps keep the floor pan from rusting out.....

Thanks Ross, I may have to get a se off you. I figured Packard would use the same door stamping for all 200 series 4dr cars.

rear door vent ing windows?

On my 1951 200 4 dr. the rear door use fixed wing windows in them. Fine with me except the rubber weather stripping is
bad on them and no one seems to make a replacement for them.
I'm wondering if I can replace them with the opening type wing windows? 1952 I believe the rear doors on all Packard models had opening type wing windows.

I bought a 1 wire Denso alternator (35 amp) on Ebay, it has a built in regulator for less than 70 bucks, new.
The Kubota type is very similar to the way the under flywheel type alternators work on tractors, uses a simple regulator similar to them. One thing with these is you need a switch to disconnect the battery from the regulator when the engine is not running it or it will ruin the voltage regulator in time.

If I remember right the 1948-50 Packard won some sort of styling of the year award.
They are one of my favorite Packard cars. John

Is there an oil sender on the old straight 8 from the '51?
