Re: long case batteries
Home away from home
Home away from home

Wesley Boyer
My two cents for what it's worth. I was using an Interstate 3EH battery and found a battery hold down on ebay that fit the 3EH where the original was two narrow. This worked and when I got my second Packard it came with a plastic battery hold down(pictured below). Since my Interstate 3EH just quite I decided to try an Optima Red Top Battery. It has more CCA than the 2E which is what should be in there and less CCA then the 3EH. I had to get shorter bolts for the hold down and now I don't have to worry about acid eating up the battery tray.

You said you just filled the tank, and don't plan on it being empty until spring. If you use ethanol gas I would look into some treatment for the gas or just drain the gas out. This new gas does not last like it did in the old days.
Just my two cents.

I don't know if this is any help since it's from the 1947 Service Counselor, but Vol 21 no. 10 Has an article about different size hub caps form 2111 and 2103.
Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem, found I had first but no reverse. Went under the car and push on the arm connecting to O/D cable. It didn't move much but after that I was able to use reverse again.

Bracket on 47 Carb.
Home away from home
Home away from home

Wesley Boyer
Hi, I saw this bracket on the carb and was wondering what it is for. It looks like it's been on there for a long time. No big deal, just wondering, I've not seen this in the parts book.
Thanks!
Wes

Howard, how true! But with this one you don't have to beat on anything (Although the picture does show that.) . It has a hyd. unit, you just turn and it applies the pressure to the shaft. See my video.

I like mine the best, no beating on anything and you give equal pull on ALL five lug bolts, but if you feel like beating on it you have that option also with this kit.
I forgot to add I found this on ebay $165.20, and did I say it works great. I had a three leg hub puller first and was able to get one side off but the other side would not come off. Tried using heat along with the 3 legged hub puller, no help, his one did it the first time I used it.

This is how I removed mine.

I went with a five arm puller, read somewhere that is better then the three arm puller.
