Re: Vesiapina's 1955 Packard 400 from Finland

My project has been stalling for a while now since I have a huge vintage boat project which takes all my energy (and money). Now I really need to get the floor carpeting and as much as I wanted to, I don't think I can afford the original reproduction carpet Neal has to offer.

Kanter offers both cutpile and loop carpets. Have I understood correctly that the loop carpet is period correct and cutpile carpets weren't offered back in 1955?

Does a kit exist for 1955 models? I'd love to find one. :)

Any ideas where should I get the correct carpet for my Packard?

SMS? Kanter?

I'd just like to see what the rear seat looks like from all around after being upholstered since my seat was partly so broken that the upholsterer would like to see how they should turn out. :)

Does anyone happen to have good photos of a good condition or restored backseat before being installed to the car?

My girlfriend doesn't have a driving licence yet, but I'm going to teach her this summer how to drive my 400 in a closed area. Hopefully it'll inspire her to get a driving licence. :)

Merry Christmas from Finland! Unfortunately no snow in my home town but there's plenty of snow in the northern cities. We had a very beautiful and clear day though. :)

Really? And it's a standard equipment, not an option? Mine must be broken then! Have to check it out.

Do '55s have a lighted ignition switch or is it for '56 only?

Thank you! Yes, eventually all bushings will be replaced but as a student my budget is limited and at this point I have to replace the most necessary ones first.

I'm restoring the car little by little, trying to have a drivable car in summer as our driving season in Finland is quite short and then continue the restoration on the rest of the year.

Now the support arm bushings are a priority. I'm also trying to make enough money to get the seats done. I already have all the materials. I also need a carpet since I don't have one at all anymore.
