thanks all...was able to remove the governor and clean it and the bullet connector.works great now.Inside was not real dirty,just some oil inside,,,looked good.I think the ground screw and bullet connector were the issue...thanks again

I have a new thermostat housing if anyone is interested.the neck is not angled right for my 49 288.it goes more in the direction of the center of the radiator.the original is angled more to the drivers side where the neck of the radiator is..it may be for a different year model than 49...if this sounds like something anyone needs let me know..its new condition

the r9 od on my 49 is acting up..it still functions but does not kick in at the right speed...does not come on until over 30 mph and sometimes not at all....was working good before.just happened all of a sudden.ive got some troubleshooting info but have not used it yet...any ideas to get me going...fuse and kickdown switch are ok..i can still kickdown from 3rd to overdrive ok but light does not come on at lower speeds

Ok..got the jack but need help with installing the springs in the head...anybody know how they go?or does anybody have a diagram?jack is useless without the springs
