They are indeed - the only Packard the corporation could offer then, One might imagine the eventual rebuilding of the South Bend plant to cater for the wide-bodied Packards, alas, funds weren't available and non- automotive businesses were more profitable.

Should be "their" not "there" publishing, Sorry to be a pedant, but one refers to an item the other a location.

I have to back up Dave's comments. Have seen photos of some in car mags over the years. I think what was done was to put a blanking plate over the 2nd light, presumably this was removed when the law changed.

Of course, when you want to locate a photo you can't LOL.

The Merkur was a European Ford Sierra Coachbuilt in Germany, and sold in the US/Canada as the following page from Wikipedia will clarify. I seem to recall reading they were actually quite good (and rare) cars, so get one if you can.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkur_XR4Ti.

If true, it will save Ford a lot of money to eliminate Mercury, advertising costs for one, not to forget special name badging etc.

Trouble with Ford (and GM [I think] and Chrysler[Fiat?]is they don't engineer vehicles for both RHC and LHC and thus those of us outside the USA are denied some quality vehicles. Whilst saying that, it is possible to get whatever US vehicle we wish - no factory support - only that of the importer/converter at a cost of around A$30-40K (LHC-RHC conversion costs, vehicle extra).
The current Ford Falcon range would have been great in the US and overseas markets, but Ford didn't allow LHD nor exports.

Guscha, I drive a Cologne built, Port Elizabeth (South Africa) assembled LV Focus TDC and it's brilliant. Filled up today and it says I have 842km until empty.

Das Gute, Ja?

I'm delighted to hear this as I and many others (I imagine) were concerned it may have been scrapped. He does good work - car almost looks like a factory job (had they made one).

Now to get the interior to look as nice as the rest and it's Happy Cruising!!!

Your just too busy Mal (laughs) You helped me sell my Packard Memorabilia.

Anyway, I purchased one from a Stude club member/vendor today (2hrs ago) and installed it. A$30.

Just thought it would've helped the club to raise funds had it fitted, no doubt if you contact the Stude club of NSW they'll have a buyer.

Who knows, the tag may be worth more than the pedal as a souvenir!!!

Thanks Dave, I suppose all manufacturers did this, liability reasons if sold or similar.

No worries Mal, I am a PACA member, however another forum member informed me that it's not for my car.

Cheers

John
