The first item up for restoration was the factory original Trico vacuum wiper motor. The unit was sent to Rob Ficken, aka Wiperman, for a complete restoration. At $107 including return shipping, and a one month turn around, this was certainly a good and easy way to begin the restoration process.

For anyone who may be interested, I listed the car on eBay with a $100 opening bid and no reserve, just trying to find the car a good home! And for those interested in photos there are 69 on the eBay auction!

Hi Folks,

I have added my 1951 Packard 250 Mayfair Hardtop to the registry.

I have also added a 1955 Packard Patrician I own, which is for sale, I purchased this car from the widow of the owner since 1970, moreless to save it before the barn collapsed or it ended up forgotten.

On the body number, there were traingles, almost look like turn signal indicators, at the front and back of the set of numbers. One faced left one faced right. Between them were the numbers 0 0 5 I (this apperars to be a Roman Numberal or the letter I) 0 2

Can anyone give me an overview of what the body number was for?

Hi patgreen, as stated above, the color code is GE, which is Moonstone over Ultramarine. A very nice color combination, imho. This car received a repaint c. 1970 and is due for another. The repaint appears to have been with similar but not exact factory colors.

Owen_Dyneto, just went out and looked, it appears to read <005I02> Does that sound correct?

Any insight on the body or vin nos. would be appreciated :)

Hi There Ozstatman,

I will definitely be listing the 1951 in the registry, I plan to have that car until they put me in the ground. As I am 26, I do hope that is a long way off ;)

I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to register the 1955 since I don't plan to keep it. I thought maybe it would be better left to the next owner?

For Sale:
1955 Packard Patrician Touring Sedan Model 5580
Paint: GE ( Moonstone & Ultramarine Two Tone )
Trim: Code 62 ( Lt. Blue Classic Nylon & Dk. Blue Doeskin )

Asking Price: $3000

Location: at my home, about 40 miles west of Detroit, MI

I recently purchased a 1955 Packard Patrician Touring Sedan. It is a 2 owner car that has been stored in a barn since the second owner died in 2010. The first owner had the car from 1955 to 1970, the second from 1970 to 2012. I purchased the car from the late second owners 85 year old wife. It was my intention to restore the car, however, days after I purchased the Patrician, I ended up finding and buying one of my dream cars, a 1951 Packard Mayfair and my budget can only afford one Packard restoration, and the 55 sadly must go.

What I know:

This car hasnít been driven the last couple years. The tires are old and only hold air for a couple days before going low. The second ownerís son said the car was driven regularly until the generator gave out and stopped charging the battery. His father disconnected wiring to generator and was going to remove and send out for restoration, but literally died unexpectedly the next day, and the car has sat since. Will need generator rebuilt and a new battery. Iíd check the voltage regulator too. I was told all options on this well equipped car (power windows, seats, antenna, etc.) were in working order when car was parked. The car has had one repaint, c. 1970.

The interior is 100% original however the carpet is shot, the headliner has some holes, and it was home to critters for a while. Interior needs a good cleaning/detailing! However, it is complete and with new carpet, new rear seat skirt, and some steam cleaning should be presentable. The seats themselves are in good condition and very comfortable. The suspension was claimed to be in working order but after sitting for a couple years is all the way down in the rear. The hood ornament is broken. Odometer reads 3X,XXX but I donít know if these are original, owners wife was not sure. Two side windows are cracked, but they are flat glass. A piece of trim is off however it is in the trunk. Spare wheel is included. Car will need to be trailered home, unless you want to get it running in my driveway, to which you are more than welcome. I am asking $3000 for the car and a good home is required. All funds from sale will benefits the restoration of my 1951 Mayfair.

Feel free to ask any questions. I am an honest guy, not trying to hide anything, just trying to find this Packard a good home. This car is worth the restoration efforts!
