For anyone in the Delavan WI area there is a 1950 Packard motor and R11 transmission on Ebay and the bid is only $200. I don't know how to post a link but just search for 1950 Packard motor and transmission. Auction ends in 2 days. If it were closer to me I would snag it just for the transmission alone

You can get one for a lot less than $200 For the number of times you're use it a cheapie from Harbor Freight or a $70 Ebay one will do the job. Also check your local parts place a bunch of them have loaner tools. Just look it up Amazon has a Kauplus universal puller for $70- I think it's the same one I use and it works great.

I've heard some rumblings about a Packard show in New Hampshire in 2023- Does anyone have any info on this?

I installed an R11 OD in my 38 coupe and I don't run a kickdown switch. I have a toggle switch on the dash to make or break the connection from the governor to the relay. With the connection to the relay and governor in the "on" position and going over about 25 MPH I just lift or the gas for a second and I'm in OD. To get out of OD just flip the switch to "off" and touch the clutch. I find that I very rarely need to get out of OD.

My 38 coupe (120) has a decal still somewhat intact. If you hold a light just right you can make out the numbers. In order to make life easier in the future I stamped the number into the frame rail near the steering box.

I bought a Mr. Gasket 3 speed floor shift conversion when I put an R11 OD in my 38 but I wound up doing Peter's method instead. I never tried to set up the Mr. Gasket unit so I don't know if it will work. $25 plus shipping and it's yours, I live in Coventry RI.

Watched an episode of American Pickers last night and they uncovered a 120 convertible coupe. The owner said it was a 39 but it sure looked like a 40 to me with the two side grills.
