Below is a link to the RM Auctions site providing the results of the auction of the Packard Building Entrace. Does anyone know who was the winner of this special prize?

Also a side entrance was auctioned:

The Packard Proving Grounds Foundation which I hope all of you are supporting had hoped to be the successful bidder. I haven't heard but will check their website and edit this is I hear anything.

At least it didn't go to a private collector to be locked away from public view. Now all I have to do is get over there in the next few days to get my picture taken with my Clipper in front of that door!

While I'm glad I'll often be able to visit the entrance at it's new location, I would have preferred that it ended up at the Proving Grounds. It should have stayed in Michigan, on Packard property.

I agree West, I had hoped it would end up at the Proving Grounds, but at least it has found a home within the Packard family and open to the public. And let me repeat again my hope that all who love Packards find a way to make some form of contribution to the Proving Grounds, it's very worthwhile and needs our support if it's to thrive.

Too bad it could not have stayed in the Detroit area at the proving grounds but at least it wasn't broken up for rubble and now has a safe home.

G'day all, Ditto to all above, the fact that it went to over $160,000 indicates that it was a highly desirable item of history. The fact that the Packard plant survived so long in dissuse has always amazed me and I would hope that a suitable monument to Packard is erected near the site to mark it's significance. It is doubly interesting that there have been some very interesting "pirate" tours of the old Factory on U tube. Best Regards Peter Toet.
