I saw that earlier this AM; the unique style begs the question of what country it was built in or built to serve the needs of.

It's in Uruguay, probably where it was modified. I was guessing Mexico until I finally noticed the location.

I was thinking Argentina rather than Uruguay. Reason being there is a brief post in an AACA thread by us1exports for the same Packard, see post #88 in this thread. And also post #11 for a '37 Cadillac hearse in this thread. Looks like Argentina has some interesting hearses!

Of course, Uruguay is not that far from Argentina. Regardless, they definitely have some interesting cars in the Southern Hemisphere!

"Item location: Buenos Aires, Uruguay"

Hmmmm......last time I looked at a map, Buenos Aires was in Argentina although Uruguay is close by across the River Plate.

On the Travel Channel, about two years ago, Anthony Bourdain met his brother in Uruguay to research the time their grandfather spent there. The brother had flown in first and rented a car for them to use in whatever coastal city this took place in. The car was a 1955 Clipper sedan in green and white. While it looked stock, there is no way I could be sure about the drivetrain and the car was never referred to as a Packard. Anthony's only comment was "nice ride" to his brother. Uruguay seems to have liked Packards...

I think we should petition BigKev to delete this forum topic and link before Ross sees it...either that or someone should email Ross and ask him is he knows anything about this car...may be one of his earlier "works"....

I am a little concerned about the aerodynamics. Besides a standard issue Packup will easily handle a coffin. Anyone for a cold bier?
