six volt bulbs

After a frustrating time at the local parts store, looking for some 6 volt bulbs, I made this chart, based on the NAPA parts list on line. It also lists the comparable 12 volt version on most of them.

Hope it can help some of you.

These are the bulbs listed in the Owner's Manual for a 53 Packard. Other years will be similar. The first numbers are for a six volt bulb, the second one is for a similar bulb in 12 volts. Candlepower is listed in parenthesizes.

Map light -#82/90 (6cp)
Glove Box - #55/57 - Napa doesn't carry the #55 bulb, but this is supposed to be a 2cp bulb. Napa does carry a LMP 63 six volt bulb that is a single contact bulb with 3 cp. If your wires are good, this one might work.
Ignition switch - #55/57 ditto
Turn indicator light - #51/53 (1cp)
Directional signal - #55/57
Oil pressure -#55/57
Selector indicator (automatic) #51/53 (1cp)
Instrument light - #55/57
License plate - #55/57
Park and turn (front) - #1154/1034 (21/3cp) Note: an LMP 1158 also works, same power
dome light - #210/104 (15 cp) Note: Napa doesn't carry the 210 bulb, but a #87 6 volt single contact bulb has 15 cp. A LMP BP93 also is a 12 volt version, single contact bulb with 15 cp.
stop and tail lights - # #1154/1034 (21/3cp) Note: an LMP 1158 also works, same power. Double contact bulb
Trunk light -#81/98 (6cp) Napa doesn't carry the #81 bulb, but does carry a #82 bulb with the same 6cp.
Backup light - #1133/? (32cp). Napa calls this a headlight bulb for a tractor
Note: there is also a #1129 bulb that is a single contact bulb with 21 cp. If you have dedicated turn signals, this is a good choice. LMP 1158 should also work.
Head lights - LMP H6006/4411 - note this is a six volt halogen bulb

Nice list. If anyone wants to verify that the current requirements, glass envelope size or socket size & configuration on any bulb will be comparable to a replacement there is a nice resource at donsbulbs.http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/t.pl/library.html Just type bulb number(s) into the search function and almost any spec can be found.

Great info David. Thanks for taking the time to compile the list.

If it won't move, get a bigger wrench.
If it breaks, it needed fixing anyway.
