hi all,
the inside of my distributor has some rust and I want to remove the govenor weights and springs so I can remove the rust. There is what looks like a spring coil type retainer clip that locks breaker cam down. Does anybody know how to remove this clip? I've tried squeezing the ends of the clip together and spreading them apart to remove and no luck. Is there a special tool for this? I've been using a small needle nose pliers and there is not much room in there to work. Thanks!!!!

You spread the ears. Try snap-ring pliers.
