Urgent: fitting later exhaust manifold on '37 115c

I have a 38 exhaust manifold that I am installing on a '37 115c. I pulled the two outermost studs, because I read that those aren't used. Are the next two studs used, and if so, how? I cannot get a washer or a nut on the stud due to a lack of clearance with the exhaust manifold.

To be clear- the intake/exhaust manifold combo is held to block right now with nuts on the 4 center-most studs. The gaskets seem tight, but I would hate to blow out my good metal NOS manifold gaskets just because the manifold was installed incorrectly. Do the '38s and on really only use 4 bolts?

Any advice would be appreciated - trying to get the car running this weekend.

I had the brain wave last night of answering my question by implication last night by looking at the parts manual. Unfortunately, it just said that X quantity are required.

I did find mention of a clamp, exhaust manifold hold down. I am assuming this is what I need. Part number 0335207, qty 2. Anyone have a picture of this mysterious clamp, or can tell me where it goes?

The photo below is of a '39 Six engine and manifolds which I'll assume(I know, I know - never assume ) are the same as used on a '38. It shows a clamp on the outermost stud which bears on both the intake and exhaust manifolds. Is this what you were looking for?

And to my mind it also raises questions. 1) Is there a clamping surface on the '37 inlet manifold? 2) Or do you also need a '38 inlet manifold to get that clamping surface?

Mal, thanks for the info, and the picture! It looks like I need two longer studs and two clamps.

The intake manifold does have a clamping surface there, and from what I can tell from the picture, it looks like the clamp bear down on the intake manifold directly and cantilever onto the exhaust manifold.

So, anyone have a pair of those clamps for sale? Flackmaster?

EDIT: Struck out with Flackmaster. Anyone have a pair? Also posting in the for sale section to catch the post war crowd.
