Mal, a Bristol I've never seen in Germany but again a car with an outer design, close beside the BMW.

... for the link, a very interesting read...

A Soviet-made BMW was new to you? German history has something to offer. Ask me.

John (JW), all the best with your new saucer-eyed adventure! The Avanti proves an educated taste! In the begin of the 1960s its Loewy design was far ahead of time.

Gerd, thanks for the Avanti article. Yesterday, the car was loaded on a Passport carrier for transport to Austin.

Gerd, a long time admirer of the Avantis. It is the blend of styling, engineering, and performance that attracts me to them. I had an opportunity to tour the Avanti II production facility when it was located in part of the original Studebaker plant in South Bend in the mid-1980s. That night I had dinner at the Studebaker mansion. I guess that is when my DNA got imprinted. We should probably leave some space here for Packards; although, I believe the project got started when it was still the Studebaker-Packard Corporation.

Yes, this isn't the general forum, therefore thanks for the call to order.

"We should probably leave some space here for Packards"

Especially since a '55 Chevy also appears in the pic with the Avanti and the Caribbean!

Kev, could you be so kind to move this thread into the general forum? North German car meets host Packards under fortunate circumstances only.

One year is over and the meet took place again. I had no camera at hand but took a couple of snapshots by help of my cellphone, knowing that older European cars are a rare sight in your neck of the woods. Much to my astonishment various US-cars arrived on the scene.
During the next days I will show you the one or another.

Gusha, are you aware that the Packard Europe meet and tour this year is in Germany (actually in the former East Germany) and starts on June 14? Details and running commentary expected on the Packard Club forum.

Host hotel is the Schlosshotel Blankenburg.

Dave (O_D), thanks for asking but I won't attend. Sorry if I unintentionally raised false hopes. I was interested and even discussed the event with Mike (Tobs). The program might be good for you Americans but a former driver of a Russian tank can't be anymore attracted by driving a Russian tank. The same goes for an East German, who is invited to visit an East German museum.
It goes without saying that I would like to meet you and it might be a crumb of comfort to know that I changed the focus of my business activities to North America.
The day will come that I say hello to you out of the second row at a car meet in your neck of the woods.

Below a rather seldom car, the French Matra-Simca Bagheera. Mid-mounted engine, a plastic body but especially three front seats are its characteristic features. The small engine originates from the -> Simca 1100. To repair the car is often necessary but needs an artistic mechanic.
What you see is the luxury version, called Jubilee.
