This was my family's first Packard - a 1952 "250" Mayfair.
The colored pic is of a 1951 but with some trim exceptions it was the identical car - Sunset red Met/twilight Taupe met.
No pwr steering or brakes but a very nice vehicle to drive.
Gorgeous red leather and grey nylon interior - a real eye-catcher. The pic of me leaning on the car is 55-56.
My Mother was a pack-rat like me and saved every thing and I have the original owners card supplied by the dealer. I carry it in my 56 400, sentimental reasons.

Thanks for sharing this! What do you think made your dad pick this car over other models and what influenced him to pick this color combo do you think?

I remember the Packard dealer in my home town of Lubbock, Texas having a 4 door Patrician 400 in that exact color combination on the showroom floor. When you drove by the dealership at night, everything else in the show room was dark, but this Patrician 400 was illuminated by spot lights. The lighting was dramatic - the contrast between the light and dark - and that Patrician looked spectacular. I've never forgotten that.

My stepdad saw that car in the showroom every day and just had to have it. They wanted him to leave it in the showroom for a while but wouldn't offer any money. He took the car. I remember we paid $3200.00 for it because Mom balked at first(lol).

I wouldn't have left it either, good call on his part.

So we need to find Randy a 1952 Mayfair 250.

I have three Packards now and am a '56 devotee.
I remember the '52 fondly and although my teenage friends made fun of the Packard, they all wanted to take it when we were double-dating.
So although that vehicle convinced me that Packards were a superior vehicle, I have limited myself to '56 senior Packards.
Did I mention I learned how to hotwire that car and taught myself how to drive?
Yes, I got caught and paid dearly for those lessons.

So see you are stuck in a '56 rut, you need something different.....
