Should there be any sort of gasket between the license plate light lens and the chrome frame around it? I have the rubber piece between the entire assembly and the bumper, but nothing currently between the glass lens and the frame holding it in. Seems like something should be there to keep water from seeping in around the glass and into the small "pan" under the light bulb.

Yes, there is a lens gasket. Steele doesn't have them for those models but Max lists them for $5.
