1950 Station Sedan

I picked up a 1950 Station Sedan last November. I was just now able to log into the Forum(s) so I figured I'd post here.
It was missing some parts and I was lucky enough to locate almost all of them - I still need an original tailgate
"t" handle. I was even VERY lucky to find someone that had the rear license plate light/assembly as I was missing that.
The car came with 7 doors (originals) and a set - regular sedan doors - that are on the car now which someone tried to make into Station Sedan doors. I need to remove those and hang the originals back on the car.
I will try to post what pictures I have although not the best.

Joe

Looks like a beauty, is the front seat upholstery original?

Welcome to the Station sedan club; When you get to the back of the car and look on the lower edge of the tailgate there should be a number burned into the wood. It should match the plate number, can you please post it. Thanks Dell

G'day joecooz,
to PackardInfo.

I invite you to include your '50 Station Wagon in the Packard Owner's Registry.

The pic below is of Dell's Station Wagon when I saw it as a work in progress back in 2012.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies so far.
I do believe that the entire interior is original.
I will look for those #'s in the tailgate and post them if I can find them.

Joe

If the interior appears to still be original I wonder what your chances are of finding the original build slip. Have you checked or felt on top of the glovebox to see if anything like a small strip of paper is taped up there. With the body part changes the other location build slips have been found -- at the gas tank folded up between the fill pipe and vent tube -- is probably a waste but still worth a look.

I was able to find the so-called build sheet on top of the glovebox.
It is an index-sized paper and it has some #'s on it. Some are impossible to read.
From memory I think what I can read is:

Dec,6 1948
2293 M(?) 5212 or 5213 (cannot remember which one it is but I know that the Briggs # is either 5212 or 5213 so the Briggs # and the # on the card are one off - either up or down. (Briggs # 5212 - Card # 5213 OR Briggs # 5213 - Card # 5212. I can check though. Right now I don't have the card in front of me.

So going by what I have read it appears that the car was a 1949 model year that was renumbered to my VIN # - 2393-5-3570 as a 1950.
Also, on my data plate I cannot read the paint or trim codes. From what I understand they may have been "pencilled" in at the dealer and may have rubbed off.

The paint code is the letter between the two sets of numbers so if it is M the car was originally Aztec Brown Metallic. The trim code should also be on the slip -- a 2 or 3 digit number probably at the end of the string of letters. The codes should have been stamped on the plate at the factory with indelible ink but after 70 years maybe indelible is a wishful term.

So it was Aztec Brown Metallic. I thought so.
Seems someone painted it Maroon along the way.
I will look for those "burned in" #'s on the tailgate and post them later today.

I looked for the #'s on the tailgate and could not see any.
I am now looking at the index card from the glovebox.
Handwritten in pencil is: 2293 M 5212 and AL5
Handwritten in red pencil is the #7 and a large #100 in the center of the card.
Also, there are #'s stamped and they look like 0948 - hard to read.
On the flip side is stamped Dec,6 1948
Handwritten in pencil is #112?
Also there are numbers written but they are scratched out in blue pencil and I cannot read them.
The Briggs body # is 2293-5213
The engine # is G27136... I couldn't get a clear reading on the rest.
