I kept looking at the driver's door and didn't like the way I ended the body line in a point towards the front of the door. I bent a piece of 16 awg sheet metal and set it on the driver's door... I liked it so well I'm welding it on. I'll make another small piece that extends to the hinge point of the top frame.

I've been working like crazy on my project... doors are done... grill and radiator is done... fenders are getting closer... rear axle is going together and seat frames are ready to recover. Below are pictures of the seat frames under construction. I had to cut almost 2 inches out of the width of them. I had a pair of leather buckets in my stash with power adjusters... these will likely get attached to the base of the seat frames.

I'm collecting parts for the windshield... the wipers... and the top frame.

The past couple of days I've been working on the left rear fender. It was previously cut apart so I could remove the lead (about 5 pounds) and grind out the brass. In a previous life someone used the method of dent everything low... braze it together and nd fill it with lead. I'm removing that and cutting out the thin and rotted metal.
I've made the new plate for the inside of the fender that bolts to the body frame. Then reshaped the inside arch. The outside arch is in place. It will need shaped a little before I cut, shape and tack in the middle sheet.

Good Morning RodBuilder. Your work is extremely impressive and a joy to watch. You will have quite a cool machine when you complete it.

Thanks Ernie... I really enjoy my time in the shop... and I argue it's cheaper than a therapist.

Ok last week I took a video of the new harmonic balancer going together. I bought a Fuidamper ring and put a double v-belt on the outside of it. The center gets a custom hub to fit the crank and the oil seal on the chain cover. The belts will drive the vintage supercharger... but more on that later.

On Monday morning I was able to get about four hours on my fender. I gave up on the approach of making the middle fit the inside and the outside of the fender. So as you can see in the video I've got the middle attached to the inside and next I'll shape the outside edge of the middle and the outside of the fender to get the desired fit.

Help! Does anyone know where to get the square bumpers shown in this picture. I believe the top frame folds down on to these bumpers to protect the paint. Thanks

Hard to tell the size or exact shape needed from the photo but if no one comes up with an already made bumper for the spot, McMaster-Carr has rubber strips that possibly could be cut to fit. Here is a 1" x 1" example and with the various other dimensional combinations they offer, different size bumpers could be fabricated.https://www.mcmaster.com/#1847t222/=19cc6qn

Metro Molded Rubber has some universal bumpers and cushions that might also be adaptable.http://metrommp.com/index.cfm?f=part_type_list

If nothing is available or could be made with stock dimension rubber one other possibility is making a mold and pouring your own bumpers with UV resistant urethane casting rubber. That does get a bit more involved with vacuum degassing needed but a simple arrangement using an AC vacuum pump and a pressure paint pot is what I use. Some nice repro parts can be made.

Is it the rubber blocks or the small metal frames you need? If the frames they used to be available from someone maybe Henry Yeska but I am not aware of a current source. I had a pair cast from a borrowed original pair, they are slightly different on each side. The rubber blocks are easily cut and shaped from a block of rubber. I used a band saw, bench grinder then finished with a linishing belt. Rubber powder everywhere but they looked good.

Thanks guys... with your input I've decided to make it. That is unless a pair can be purchased before I get started. HH56 thanks for your lead about metrommp.com I've ordered several items from them today including a pair of rubber bumpers for this project.
For the frame it will be easiest to machine it from a solid plate of stainless steel. I assume that the feature on the front of it is to thread a strap through to hold the folded top down. Any additional details about these scarce bumpers will be great!
