I'm considering painting my '51 200 like a period correct Police Car and wondered if anyone knows if there is any legalities that would prevent me from driving it publically after its finished? If state matters, I live in Texas. I'm also considering a Fire Chief paint scheme. Would love to see any pics of Police or Fire Packards if you own one. Thanks in advance, Bruce

I did find this one on Google images. Love it...

It isn't the paint scheme. Badge, siren and lightbar turn a car into a police car.

Bruce (Diehard51), here are my finds:

Texas Transportation Code - TRANSP 541.201. Vehicles
...the private vehicle may not be considered an authorized emergency vehicle ... unless the vehicle is marked.

Texas Transportation Code - TRANSP 547.702. Additional Equipment Requirements for Authorized Emergency Vehicles
...(a) An authorized emergency vehicle may be equipped with a siren, exhaust whistle, or bell...
...(c) Except as provided by this section, an authorized emergency vehicle shall be equipped with signal lamps...
