They do need to be heated. Packard actually had their mechanics adapt an old window cylinder solenoid for the job but since I doubt you have one of those laying around perhaps you can adapt something similar. It needs gentle heat and nothing concentrated or hot enough to damage the molding.

Wow, you are in the know! Not sure about putting this together with stuff in my shop. I will try to heat it up and remove. I will let you know how it works out! Thanks Howard!

That was all before you could get a heat gun at Home Despot or Horrible Fright.
Roll the window down out of the way. Put the heat gun on low and blow it sideways across the button. Pull off the button.
