From what I understand, even on the Clippers, the A/C pod used Senior knobs.

Junior and senior cars did use the same style and knob but not the same knobs as on the other switches. 53 had the round 53 knobs but those also had a mark (don't remember if it was a line or a dot) for a position indicator and 54 has one of the legs of the star longer to act as an indicator.

The last 1954 AC control panel that I saw for sale was priced at $32,000. Of course it was attached to a beautiful Pacific. Congrats on a great find.

Warmed up to 45f here outside of Chicago and ground was dry, so took the old girl for a little drive. She started right up after a momentary blip on the electric fuel pump.

Interesting photo of the three cars at the show. Were the GM automobiles that much wider than the Packards, or is that just the distortion of the wide angle lens?

I think it was just the angle. The Clipper to me always looks massive compared to a Tri-5 Chevy.

That's good to know. I was thinking for a minute that GM had something on us by making a much wider car. You know, to produce a wider design costs much more than it does to lengthen.

BTW, I'm still impressed and in awe of your work!

This is a mating of a '54 GS (Cast Iron) bellhousing to the 56 Aluminum body. You can see in the bellhousing pics where I had to modify it a tiny bit with a carbide bit to match the oil passages on the 56 bellhousing.

54' GS Cast Iron Bellhousing mated to the '56 Aluminum body. Everything lined up and torqued down.

Hopefully tomorrow, I'll be able to get the tail section on. I have a limited window in the garage before the cold drives me inside for warmth.

Spoke to Ross and he is sending me his list of mods he recommends for the control assembly.
