Are you plating the wires also? If so, why not let the shop do it? I've had several sets of wire wheels re-plated and just sent them the complete wheel. They have to adjust the spokes and balance the wheel anyway.

Agreeing with Randy, lacing and trueing wire wheels best left to the professionals.

With a Forum Name of The Restoration Garage, I'm thinking the original poster is the shop/professional here but hasn't done this exact work previously.

You are correct I've not tackled this before and I'm sure there are a few tricks to the trade.
The player I use will only accept the rims dismantled for chroming.
If I can't finf any info I'll just have to tackle it anyway, but I've found it's slways good to ask since you never know what time saving ideas you
Might learn.
Thanks guys for responding! I'll keep you posted on how I progress

Hello Barry:

Why don't you call Don or Dan Sommer at American Arrowhttp://americanarrowcorp.com/ (248) 435-6115 and get a quote on the chrome wire wheels they make and sell?

Let them know the year and model Packard you are working on and they will handle it from there. The call is free.

This article tells how to take the wheel apart, put it back together and truing by tensioning the spokes. If they are 80 spoke wheels like mine, it will be quite a lot of work.
