Hi Tom

Thanks for the license identification. The diplomatic corp plate makes sense as to why such a rare and expensive Packard was in Norway. Those posts were granted to political supporters by those in power as a 'plum' for their ($) support. Hope the Packard, if left behind when the diplomat returned home, somehow survived the war and is in the hands of an appreciative conservator now.

More saved from various sources.

First, Carr's Pepper Gas, Lexington, KY. As the trolley and interurban rail lines failed, the cars were sold off to be repurposed not only as diners but also gas station and used car lot shacks.

Second, Decades before the 1970's gas line, people cued up for their ration during WWII.

Third, An ordinary day in Bakersfield, CA 1950. The 23rd Series Eight looks brand new, nicely optioned with Cormorant, whitewalls, trim rings and radio.

The Las Vegas Strip, circa 1955, a '54 Clipper club sedan.

On the AACA Forum, a Wade Lanning posted family photos from the 1920's. Apparently his great aunt's husband was a prosperous gentleman, "was an engineer that had his own company that made ventilation fans for department stores before modern HVAC systems"

His car of choice? Packard, of course! It appears to be a First Series Eight sedan. A portly gentleman with pence-nez glasses, his chauffeur with family members in front of a '20's Spanish Revival house complete with porte cochere is the very picture of an affluent 1920's America. Later, the Packard was decorated for a Lindy Welcome parade.

Enjoy!

An article on The Old Motor about Philadelphia parking situation included this photo with what looks like a nearly new, well-equipped '52 200 Deluxe touring sedan. Note the contrast with the '51 Nash Statesman.

These photos are from the Phoenix CL posting for '38 Eight convertible sedan. The atmospheric look and picturesque background make them almost look vintage. Enjoy.

I do enjoy these images, but I suspect these are scans from color prints and are somewhat vintage, like 40 or 50 years old, not recently taken to sell it. Also the lawn jockey seems to date the photo, too.

This good photo is included in The Old Motor's Four Fun Friday Kodachrome Car Photographs Number 187. I responded:

The '51 Packard Patrician in solid Sunset Red might have been a special order given the color was only listed for two-tone combinations as the top color with Packard Ivory or Twilight Taupe. It also has the cloisonn? wheel cover centers that were standard on early production but later deleted. The color choice is unusual for a large sedan which mostly ranged in the green/blue/gray/brown palette.
