Are those the correct 4GC carburetors for the 56 Caribbean?

Something doesn't look right.
Can you take a picture from the passenger side of the 2x4 setup?

Agree, the choke housings appear to be single 4-bbl and not those used on the 2x4s.

Difficult to comprehend Rochester, making millions of the same carburetor for GM, would design and manufacture the two different part numbers for only 500 units of the '56 Caribbean. As far as my research goes, those two carbs were never used on any other make or model.

Ric,

I am not trying to bash your work, just pointing out what does not look right to me.

You have said you are putting this back together for someone else who needed the help. I applaud you doing that.

Not that mine is all that correct in all respects but this gives a little better idea of the fuel line and gas filter positioning, and the air deflector for the front automatic choke. The second air deflector blocking the air flow under the intake manifold is not visible in this picture.

Ric,

These are 1955 2x4 Caribbean Carburetors.
I can not find a good picture of a 1956 2x4 setup, yet.

I absolutely am not taking anything to heart, I applause all the help that I'm getting, I was just stating that I'm ignorant when it comes to a Packard .. definitely not making it concourse,, just want it to run and drive before the gentleman passes..
saw the pic, my carbs aren't close to those... guess they will work though...

I do not see the carb heat shield - pic follows. Note rubber attached so that shield would not rattle against intake manifold.

The single 4-bbl carbs will definitely work on the 2x4 manifold. They just won't idle as smoothly and will use more fuel at idle and on acceleration/deceleration.

Ahhh... Owen: Which 1956 Caribbean is this one with this color in the engine compartment? Unusual. Looks nice. But those red decals on the batwing pots are the wrong type and wrong color. Decals on Let The Ride Decide's pots are accurate and the finish on his batwing like the originals.

By the way, many years ago I knew someone with a 1956 Caribbean who was running a pair of Rochester 4GCs removed from two 1956 Four Hundreds. The car ran, but it had a tendency to load up at idle, go gobby, and occasionally acted like the accelerator pumps were bad when they were not. And wow... did it ever drink the gas!!

Anyway. So very nice to see all of these Caribbean photos!
