This is from a 55 cribb.. Can't believe people ..

This was rebuilt. To me someone who didn't know ultramatics . they didn't even remove the metering plug.

The manual shift was put on backwards. Hate to see inside torque converter.

To me. Dump the 55. And put in a 56.

The band strut..left to float around. The parking lever the roller doesn't roll.

The trans did have the clunk ..getting out of park..

Then the shift valve came out. Cause no stop.

The band adjusting bolt was rusted.stuck. So can't see how bands were holding.

The don't look worn.

Riki,

What is stamped on the transmission case boss just below the rear housing assembly and above the pan.

Any idea how many miles before and after the rebuild?

Here is oil fliter.

Which saw that..and knew something was burned.

The owner said. About 2000.oo.. He was driving it ..said it was driving.. It was getting stuck in park.

Has the lifter noise..rebuilding engine with Melling pump.

I said wait till this gets this done..
Trans.

Ross was going to get it..but he does his leave.. So his student...gets it...wait till Ross reads that....student..

Question..

Isn't it possible to put the 55 turbines in a 56 torque converter?

If you need them...the 56 374. Puts 290 hp.

Where the 55 275 hp

Significant date! Wouldn't have anything to do with the problem, would it?

Riki,

Thanks for the picture, but that's not the area where the transmission number is stamped.

Just like the engine number is stamped, the transmission is stamped on the transmission case.

At the back of the transmission case.

If I can find a picture I will post where it should be.
