Apologies in advance to those not favoring the disc
Conversion but, here's some of the updates from this weekend with bearing part numbers for any that this may help

I know the swan wasn't on the '51 - I recently acquired the correct jet in new condition and when I came across the show condition swan firm next to nothing I had to pick it up

Also got a grill piece off a 53, not realizing it is quite a bit different than the 51 assembly - not sure what to do about this one because my piece is in very poor condition and the new one is almost showncar condition as you can see from the close up shots

Yes, 1953 and 1954 grills are very different. The later grills will fit if you use the complete grill but they were designed for use with cast chrome fender wrap-around that the earlier cars did not have. 1951 and 1952 grills will interchange with each other but for 1952, there were the three holes for the emblem which wasn't used in 1951. There were also junior and senior grills for each year that were different in appearance with added pieces to the senior models. Basically, for your car, you'll need a 1951 grill.

Packard did not use a swan: it was a cormorant although originally it was a pelican. It was an optional accessory that your car could have come with but if it had it, it would be the type with the upright wings. You'll find that the 1953-1954 ornament you showed won't fit without a modification to the hood as the mounting hole spacing between 1951-52 and 1953-54 is different.

Hi Don, the picture is the surround that I recently picked up (53) with my 51
Center piece (notice how the bottom portion of the center is not connected and dangling)

When I purchased the car it had the 52 surround which has all the correct attachment points but, also had the emblem mounting holes you referenced

I realized that and updated my post but apparently not before you saw it! I also added comments about the cormorant hood ornament.

You are too kind Sir, I certainly appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge, it's been invaluable throughout this project.

After hearing my goal with this 200, My friend suggested I come on a packard site - he said "Packard fella's are purists but they will
appreciate what you want to do with the car"... the kind words of encouragement and support from you and other Packard elder statesmen makes this project even more satisfying.

Thank you again
