That '36 is unfortunate. The sagging back-end is only magnified by the rear wheel skirts and all that bling detracts from the lines. The visor doesn't help. Maybe with some judicious simplification it would be fine, but $55K is exorbitant in any event.

Anyone know what that cylindrical thing is that looks like a vacuum cleaner sticking out the rear window.

Its an air cooler, sometimes called a swamp cooler. In low humidity situations it can provide somewhat effective cooling via evaporation of water that is charged into it. Pretty commonly seen in locales like the southwest in the 1950s and earlier.

And yes, an unfortunate car to be sure.

1949 sedan. They claim its a super eight but I dont have enough knowledge of the postwar cars to tell. It looks like a nice clean car.
