Since we spoke last, Clippy is on the road with all new brakes and fuel system, overdrive sorted and working swell, all manner of new hoses, belt and coolant and and and about a thousand small details tweaked, adjusted and set back to standard condition. Power steering has been changed to manual many small electrical gremlins vanquished. It is a hoot to drive and starts instantly hot or cold (more on that topic soon under "that worked well" Just Sunday afternoon it took a a load of bikes to a nearby trail head; not a long drive but by far the longest in the past 3o years or more. Did have to sacrifice an old baking dish to create the license nacelle.

Looks awesome. Like the "Pack-UpCycling" usage of the cake pan.

Am pretty much deliriously happy with my new toy. Welded up the floor and put down some carpeting. Engine is enjoying its first oil change since the Carter administration. Treated it to some new tires and pinstriped wheels. Now very pleasant to drive. Hankook Optimos are terrific entry level tires and give great ride and easy steering for very little money. Still need to adjust the OD governor so it drops out a little higher than 10 so I don't have to shift down for slow uphill corners.

Can't bear ugly dashes and an ill placed mouse nest had caused rust holes above the glove box (!). Soooo restored another one with some leftover blue metallic paint and did a major refurb on the instrument cluster to bring it to original appearance. Yes, the 53 Clipper instruments are supposed to have a wine background but the red dye used in the annodized pieces faded early. Good opportunity to lube all the heater controls and wiper pulleys whilst the dash was out.
