Generator pulley nut thread - 39 Packard SIX

Really buggered up the shaft on my generator, fell off bench ad clipped the metal cross member on my bench as I was doing final assembly after repainting it. Tried needle file to clean up the thread but they are pretty messed up and subsequently buggered up the nut as well

I am measuring it using a spark plug/pipe gauge as 3/8" pipe with a 1.25 mm pitch. Originally thought it was 5/8 - 18

Anyone know what the pitch is? Not going to be simple to replace, car has the rare tachometer takeoff off the back of the generator

Thanks in advance

John

Took my micrometer out, measuring 16.995 mm or .6688 ", so a metric shaft on an autolite generator?

If you can determine the thread size, maybe a thread-chaser will fix it. Whatever you do, though, do not use a die-nut as it will definitely ruin it for good! A thread chaser straigntens bad threads while a die-nut re-cuts them.

Figured I out, weird size, 11/16-20. Was able to repair using a thread file

Those following my threads, put engine and trans back in the car Friday, hooking up all linkages and hoses today including lots of new hard lines. Plan to spin it today to verify oil pressure and with luck, start it up after a complete overhaul
