I just purchased a 1953 Clipper it is set up as 6 volt negative ground. How can I change it back to positive ground

Are you sure they just didn't put the battery in wrong way around? I've seen it done before.

Before changing it back make sure there were no repairs to the radio where they might have changed the vibrator to a solid state unit or added some other module and deliberately changed the polarity. Also check for any other possible add on electrical needing a negative ground such as wanting to plug a phone charger in the cigar lighter socket.

If nothing solid state is found then you can just swap the cables. For best coil efficiency verify the positive terminal on the coil is the one connected to the distributor which would be correct for a positive ground. Also, if the car has had reversed polarity for a period of time the generator may not charge when changed back. If the red idiot light does not go out you will need to repolarize the charging system.
