The main harness from switches and gauges is one piece into the engine compt. There is a separate loom or rubber cable connecting the R side head and parking lights to the L side junction block and corresponding wires from the main loom

If you mean the body wiring going to the trunk as the aux harness then no plug as such. Believe 48 is very similar to 47 and if so wires are routed in a channel over the doors and above the headliner. They run up thru the L side A pillar and will enter at sort of a slot or hole below the left half of windshield. Power for courtesy lights and the wire from the gas sender are longer and connect directly to the instrument cluster. Power connects to the aux breaker on the back of the cluster, gas sender directly to the gauge. The other wires for tail & stop lights are shorter and are connected via single inline connectors to their mates in the main loom. The connectors should be found relatively close to the hole under the windshield. If the car has turn signals those wires will also be in the same area and connect via larger 3 or 4 wire inline connectors to their mates. Depending on model and options there may be another wire or two for lights at the same location. There are more inline connectors in the trunk near the L tail light to connect the body harness to the lights.

It is on the side of the frame X-member just before the harness reaches the overdrive. At this late date it is a source of OD unreliability and I have often eliminated the connectors and soldered the wires together.

Depending on the service it received when new or where in production your car was built the plug may already be gone. Here is a bulletin from mid 1948 advising mechanics to remove the plug just as Ross mentions doing and the statement that it would soon be eliminated on future production.

Ross - Do you remember if the Disconnect Plug is a round six way plug or a long six way plug. The Wiring Diagram shows it as a long plug, but Rhode Island Wiring shows it as a round six way plug. Thanks
