This was my last taxi project 20+ years ago. It's time to start a new project - the NYC 1948 lwb taxi. All suggestions and encouragement considered. See previous post.

Thanks for the kind words and for posting the pictures. It's nice to see that some others enjoy seeing the taxi.

In the early-mid 1990's there was a maroon and tan '46-'47 Clipper taxi-spec's Six at a body shop in Cuba, New York that would have been a twin to your car. I lost track of it later, have yet to find out where it went or who has it.

As a source for a potentially solid 141" wb body and chassis, there was also a CL listing in northern New Mexico for a group of three 22nd-23rd Series Packard, the others a club sedan and touring sedan. Checking CL periodically might turn up a good project shell.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

Thanks Steve and everyone else for your interest. I am currently on my third lwb parts car. The first one was too nice, the second one too bad, and the third one is in progress (as slow as it may seem). I'll take pictures as I make progress. My last Packard project took 20+ years to finish, so I better get in gear on this asap.

Good luck with your latest project!

Something about the paint scheme on your earlier project caught my attention. It's the same colour combination as my (now departed) 1941 120 Club Coupe. See pic below.

Hmmm.

It is painted the original colors. The paint chip chart I have for 46-47 Lists 2 color combinations for taxicabs. Raja maroon/Arizona beige; and burnt orange/federal yellow. I think that you could get any color combination that you requested for them to make the sale.

Yes, my 120 Coupe was the first of those combinations. It was repainted here in Australia, but looks pretty close and widely admired.

Knowing the variety of colour schemes used by taxi companies, I would guess anything was available from Packard as you suggest.

Where was your first taxi project from? It's an unusually tasteful colour scheme. Was that opening rear window an original fitting? Terrific idea. The whole car is spectacular.
