This is the next question I am trying to figure out. The fuel pump on the left was on the car when I bought it. No stampings on it except that it is an AC fuel pump. The one on the right I found several years ago (AC 7330) which I think is correct one with the air dome and vacuum dome.

The fuel filter is a Carter 2146397 which I was told is correct for this this car. I bought the sintered filter from Max Merritt but I believe I still need the inner spring to hold the sintered filter in place since the filter just rattles around in the glass bowl.

Is this the correct location for the fuel filter? Before the inlet side of the fuel pump? I have seen later Packards what had the fuel filter just before the carburetor.

You can see I have been busy lately. The latest dilemma I have is getting the correct rims wheels for this car. The car as I got it had later model 15" rims on it. See the first picture. Then I collected three correct 160 rims wheels (somehow never finding a fourth) which I was told are the stamped Motor Wheel 16 500 598 and have a 3 3/8" center hole, 4 3/4" diagonal bolt center to center and 3" bolt to bolt hole center. While looking for the correct 160 rims someone told me that radials work better on the the bus/ambulance/hearse/limousine rims wheels so not finding the correct 160 rims I bought a set of five of the limousine rims wheels. The limousine rims wheels are stamped Motor Wheel 16F 550 572 with a 3 7/8" center hole. The limousine rims wheels really are quite different than the 160 rims wheels. Any thoughts?

This is one of the small non-essential moral victories of the project. It took me several years but I was able to piece together all the parts I needed for the rear seat foot rest. The original was completely gone except for the shattered mounts on the floor. The second photo is of my "left overs". Anyone think they can rehab them? There is only one floor mount that is intact.

To the best of my knowledge, the oil bath air cleaner with the wide skirt around the oil bath was standard with the later 356 engines. The other was the accessory model as seen in the accessory brochures.

Sorry if this is obvious, but the weight of the car is meant to be borne by the hub, not the lugs. If you use the limo/hearse rims, have a tire shop but annular shims in the opening so that it fits the hub!

Please allow me to voice a pet peeve: rim and wheels. Those are wheels not rims. No misunderstanding about what you are saying, but they are wheels. Rims were from the early days when the rim was a separate part of the wheel assembly. Thanks for letting me rant.

Thanks for the feedback on what I used to call rims and which I will now be referring to as wheels. The Flackmaster got me straightened out on their application when he pointed out the bolt pattern isn't even the same (3.5" for the hearse wheels vs 3.0" for the passenger packards). Now the search begins for a fourth 16"x5" wheel. I never even thought of checking the bolt pattern just bought them and stored them. Anyone need some hearse wheels? Live and learn!

Here's the correct one, as found and as it is used (my son kept it gnarly after cleaning and painting). The flatfish ones are from later years.

Need to fix the vent window crank - the gear got stripped after the vent window got stuck in the old rubber gasket. I am starting the process of replacing the stripped gear with a new part from John Ulrich. Here are some pictures of the door panel after I pulled it off. These are originals if anyone wants to get a look at exactly how they were put together and held on.
