It's also not a limousine as advertised. It is a long wheelbase sedan.

Although we now tend to consider lwb models such as this car as all having been used in livery or private limousine operations, there still were larger families that purchase seven passenger sedans for private use. They could specify the color be something other than the dark hues in order for their cars not to be confused with the other applications.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

true on other colors being available and ordered - but this car's color, interior, and hubcaps are not 47 Custom Eight.

I went on the website referenced in post #1 and found the high bid was $8700, reserve not met, auction over. Typical with on-line auctions the action picked-up in the last 30 minutes . . . looks like 3 bidders dominated the activity at the end. The on-line photos suggest a neglected vehicle with some lipstick applied just before sale, suggesting perhaps another fine example of a saloon built by the Caveat Emptor Motor Works.

If the car was built with that color I'm OK with keeping it original.
