The Briscoe empire lasted from 1908 until 1912. It seems that from an article I have in my library about Durant and Briscoe was they were friends and almost went into the automotive business together in 1908.

What Durant proposed to Briscoe was that the company they form would consist of Maxwell-Briscoe, Reo, Buick, and Ford. Ford was willing to sell out to Durant for eight million dollars. Durant tried to raise the money but the bankers he approached thought the price was to high.

Saturday night what George P. Perkins of J.P. Morgan & Co. wanted to do in 1908 and the car firms he wanted to bring together in a merger.
