One thick bushing.. Should wear a long time..aluminum bronze... That's how large needle bearing was.

Back to stock shaft. 2-1/8 bore..

Still need to groove it and drill holes

I noticed after I made bushing holes where not lined up.

Tried to show..in pictures.

The other picture..shows hole in bell housing.

It is not...in center of bushing...Packard. Bell housing bushing is 1-5/8..wide.. Half of that is 13/16 s.

You can see where 13/16s sets with vernier.

My needle bearing..is 13/16 s on center. So my needle bearing was not getting much oil..if any.

There are ways to solve this. And that is to mill that oil hole in bell housing to 13/16 s center.

The other part of this is the oil holes shaft and bushing.. That can be solved too. Making center groove wider.

Really don't want to take it off of face of bushing...want as much surface area as possible.

Also can mill the bushing holes enlongate them to match shaft holes.

This one thing I over looked...to see how all this lined up.

I am thinking of putting needle bearing back in with adjusted holes..

The thing is..if you press bell housing bushing in to far..you are cutting off oil.

When you bored out the bell housing to accept the needle bearing, you lost the honking big groove that was cast into it to align the oil feed hole with the holes on the bushing. Suggest you turn a honking big groove on the outside of your bushing to make up for this.

Thanks.

Ross.. I should of took a picture of bell housing before I had it bored.

Not a problem to groove bushing.. But I think I am going to center that hole. On bell housing.

Mill on an angle.. And leaning more to put needle bearing back in. Since it really wasn't getting oil.

With oil it should get to converter..now. And into converter shaft. All be it slower. Cause of size of oil hole in needle bearing.. But nothing like it was before.... Thanks....

I had doubts about inner rings..being too long.

So going to try to cut it back. Without grinding.

The line in red dye. Shows how far shaft goes into pump..

Went through 2 carbide bits but . got it cut back.

Does not touch plate of frt..pump.

Next up bell housing..

Deciding if I should add oils around shaft by teeth..think that was an upgrade..or something.
