Nope, The rubber piece goes along the SIDE of the stirrup.

When you put the Stirrup into the rear suspension arm, the rubber goes between the stirrup and the arm. the two bolts that go through the arm to hold the stirrups on passes through the rubber.

Finally getting the rear end re-attached to the chassis but I am beginning to think I am doing it in the wrong order.
Everything is attached except the stirrups to the load arms. Is there a better order of assembly for this area?

I am planning to disconnect the watts link and shocks tomorrow so that the axle will drop lower then it is now.
The problem is the the load arms are at an angle that will not allow the seat in the stirrups set properly.

You may be able to see what I am talking about in the last image below. I test mounted the stirrups and this is what I have.

Is your front end all together?

No, I am just getting started on the front. Got all the needed parts just have not started yet.

not sure if this helps, but this is what mine looks like. I'm pretty baffled by your problem and I've been considering it.

also in my blog you will read how I broke the bolt holding the trailing arm to the frame. didn't even get close to torqueing it to spec, so I caution you here....or you may be in my boat and buying new ones.

I'm wondering since your front arm is being held up, if that's what makes the geometry off in the back?

To get the stirrups under the load arms the rear suspension needs to be all the way down. That means disconnect the shocks at the bottom and take off the watts linkage ends. After the stirrups are hooked,I usually can only get the watts linkage hooked up after the weight of the car is on the wheels.

Ross, you confirmed what I was thinking. Have not had time to work on it yet but that is the route I will try.

Henry, I remember your post about breaking that part. I will be careful. Am looking for some foam pipe insulation now to use on the load arm seat seals (or what ever its called.) My local big box stores don't care 1 1/4 inside diameter.

Ride, Because of the all-thread holding the front arms I actually have the front load arms and inch or two higher then normal. That could make a difference I guess but I will try as Ross suggested and disconnect everything.
