A relaxing Day Driving a Packard in Southeastern Arizona

I awoke this morning, made the coffee, brought in the paper and enjoyed quality time with my bride. Being semi-retired, and only working part-time I have more time on my hands now. But one of my favorite diversions is just to take the Packard out and see where I end up. Today I departed my home at 0940 and returned at 1715 hours. I enjoyed 247 miles of near flawless driving (the 400 chugged a bit climbing so I flipped on the e-fuel pump) Arizona Highways 80, 82 and 83. These highways bring the traveler through Sonoita (where the movie Oklahoma was filmed), Whetstone, Tombstone, Bisbee and an occupied 'ghost-town' named Lowell a few miles from Bisbee.

For those contemplating an adventure to southeastern Arizona, don't delay as the old west awaits you. From gun-fights in the street in front of the OK-Corral, quality dining in the hillside community of Bisbee (home of the famous Lavender Pit)and to fantastic photo opportunities in Lowell, the traveler will most certainly not soon forget the experiences.

Here are some pictures of my adventure today.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

That's what a drive in a Packard is supposed to be like. IMO, these pix are one of the highlights of your post-restoration excursions. It's sufficient motivation to get any of the rest of us (myself included, even though I have my 55 Pat to drive) to finish our projects and GET OUT THERE DRIVING YOUR PACKARD.

I'm only sorry that I couldn't ride along.

Great excursion! That's exactly why I restored my Packard - get out there and drive it! Thank you for the scenic pictures - love the Hudson pickup. The only thing better is doing that with a group of Packard owners.

Kevin, Thanks for posting! It brought back fond memories of our trip to the Tucson area last year when I met you at the car show. I posted a photo of that old hearse in Tombstone also.

Dave,

I remembered your posting and visiting the hearse was one of the objectives this trip. I also put up a couple of pictures on that post of yours from last year.

Hoping Owen_Dyneto sees the body number and some sleuthing can begin to determine what year that hearse really is.

Just an FYI.........90's have arrived. Stay north until fall.
