Not sure what it came ooff of. It was in abox of recently aquired junk. I assume a mercedes. Fits v8 bellhousing recess perfectly precision fit. But bolt holes are about 5/8" too close together. I only did a quik fit to bell. Further analysis needed.

If one wants some weird search results, put in

Valeo d6ra 68 france 25f 6 0346 mercedes symbol 004 151 81 01 b.

Using mercedes starter 004 151 81 01 b. indicates it fits most later Mercedes, VW, Daewoo and SsangYong.

Amazing that anything with the three-pointed star could be a cost-effective alternative, but some M-B starters aren't overly expensive. However, it's moot until the throw, pinion engagement and widening the bolt holes are verified. Also, the M-B starters I've seen would put the solenoid down on the bottom. My most recent lesson learned, never assume anything will clear until installed and driven.

I have no experience with mini starters or how good these might be but it seems someone has developed or converted a current mini starter for sale in a configuration to fit various Packard engines. Too bad it requires a 12v conversion..

Well, I've bought one of the V8 variations for my '56 374. Appears originally 5 available, a couple are sold now so got one before the usual "wish I'd got one when they were around"
