BDC, the coupe-sedans or 2-door sedans were a staple of the low price car makers, probably the reason they were only found in this era in the lowest price Packard. Their appeal was largely to a young family with limited $ as they afforded seating for 5, were less expensive than a 4-door sedan, and offered what some viewed as a further advantage in that the children in the rear were considered safer without a door.
