1938 super 8 again

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/4980096504.html

There have been a few 38 super 8 touring sedans floating around (3 that I can think of) that can't seem to find a new owner. All in that $45-50k price range. I think 1 finally sold in an auction in January for $29k. Is this the ugly step child in the senior prewar line?

"classic bard find"......Didn't know Shakespeare chased down Packards

It's 23rd April, here in Oz, and being Shakespeare Day wouldn't surprise me.

Brian, don't recall seeing the diesel engined Packard nor are there any photos of it on the Meet's website. It could have come in late on Saturday. Maybe someone else will recall seeing it. Unusual car.

Apologies for digressing.

Though a purist at heart I do enjoy mechanical challenges and this will be one that is far more challenging than just installing a production diesel. My friend Ed up in NH who appears to have entirely too much time on his hands has been working for some time on making a SOHC cam version of a Packard 356 engine. There is some commentary on the PAC forum for those with interest. It will ultimely be installed in a 1936 "120" club sedan.

Seehttp://www.packardclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2411 if interested.

To each their own I guess. I draw the line however at the place where one loses sight of the brand's original design intent.

Hi

A bit of this and that, though nothing on par with that '55 Clipper 'roadster':

A '42 Henney, solid project, interesting by pricey:

A '52 Patrician, flat black and only three bucks!:
http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/4982385129.html

A '55 400, dry, solid, project, seller has two others including a '55 Clipper hardtop:

Steve

PS: Quite a project that SOHC 356!

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

1401 convertible coupe up for sale on ebay, but the color strikes as odd. Was this an official color available in 36? Also the reproduction factory plate makes me wonder if this car started out as a regular coupe from the factory.
